Guardian Grounds Homes
My greatest accomplishment has been building a life centered on service, family, and impact. As a Marine Corps veteran, firefighter, husband, and father, I have dedicated my life to helping others overcome challenges and reach their potential. Founding Guardian Grounds Homes allowed me to continue serving after the military by creating safe, structured housing for veterans and individuals working to rebuild their lives. Expanding from one home to multiple locations while balancing family, public service, and entrepreneurship has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. The achievement I am most proud of is seeing residents regain stability, secure employment, reconnect with family, access benefits, and move toward independence. Alongside my wife, Angela, I strive to show our son that true success is measured not by personal accomplishments, but by the positive impact we have on others and the opportunities we create for those who need them most.
Gary Travis is a Marine Corps combat veteran, active firefighter, husband, father, and founder of Guardian Grounds Homes, a supportive housing organization dedicated to helping veterans and individuals working toward stability and independence. Following multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Gary continued his lifelong commitment to service through law enforcement and the fire service, where he currently serves his community as a firefighter in Northern California. Drawing on those experiences, he founded Guardian Grounds Homes to provide safe, affordable housing built on accountability, community, and personal growth. In less than a year, Guardian Grounds Homes expanded from one home to multiple locations, helping address the growing need for supportive housing while building partnerships with veteran service organizations, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and government agencies. Gary believes service does not end when a uniform comes off—it evolves into creating opportunities for others to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term success.
