Britt is the Coordinator of Southern Connecticut State University's Office of Veteran, Military, and Adult Learners. An Air Force veteran herself, Britt understands the unique needs and support our veteran and military connected students require. Britt was instrumental in Southern being designated as a Silver Level Military Friendly campus. Britt was highlighted in a Southern News article about the support for our veteran students, which can be found here: https://news.southernct.edu/2024/11/06/southern-on-a-mission-to-help-veterans-get-their-degrees/.
My mother demonstrated what is possible through hard work and determination. She also demonstrated care and compassion for others. She put herself through nursing school in her 40’s as a single mother to three kids and became an amazing Nurse. My identical twin sister knew what she wanted to do from a very young age and got after it. At 15, she was unrelenting in her pursuit of a job that blossomed into a successful career doing what she loves as a cosmetologist. She is also a dedicated mother, my best friend, and someone I greatly admire who helped me get on my path here at SCSU. My wife Audra is my true champion and the love of my life. She is one of the strongest people in this world and I would not be where I am today or up for this award without her constant love and support.
After serving in the United States Air Force, I attended Southern Connecticut State University and earned two degrees utilizing the GI Bill. It is my privilege to continue to serve our veterans and military-connected students as the Coordinator for Veteran, Military, and Adult Learner Services here at SCSU. Advocacy and recognition are central to my role, from reviewing military transcripts to guiding students on the best use of veterans and VA benefits to reach their personal and educational goals. I developed and conduct green zone training for faculty and staff, and each year I facilitate a week of Veterans Day programming including VR&E and disabilities claims clinics. As a member of the City of New Haven Mayor's Veterans Advisory Committee, I facilitate Memorial and Veterans Day ceremonies. I am also a charter member and have served as the Chaplain for the American Legion Post 210 New Haven, CT since 2016.
