Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Luke Medvegy is a shining example of leadership, service, and community impact. With over 23 years of military service, he has received some of the nation’s highest honors, including the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf clusters, the Samuel Sharpe Award, and the Honorable Order of Saint Martin. He is also a member of the Honorary Squadron of the Second Regiment of Dragoons, a testament to his lifetime of commitment to excellence.
In retirement, Luke continues to serve through multiple veteran-focused efforts. He is the President of American Heroes Equine Connection Incorporated, a nonprofit that helps veterans and first responders heal from PTSD through equine-assisted therapy. His organization is making a major difference for Indiana’s 450,000 veterans and beyond.
Luke also serves as the Executive Director for Veteran Services and Strategic Partnerships at American Skyport, where he leads the development of innovative multimodal infrastructure to support rural communities, improve access to care, and drive economic growth. As a proud member of AVOOA, he exemplifies veteran-led entrepreneurship, owning and operating several ventures focused on solving challenges within the veteran and business communities.
His national impact continues through his role as an IVMF/Bunker Labs Ambassador, mentoring veteran entrepreneurs across the central United States. He is a contributor to Veterans Lifestyle Magazine, a supporter of the Veteran Social Summit, and author of two books on leadership and resilience.
Despite all his professional accomplishments, Luke’s proudest achievement is personal—his 18-year marriage and raising four children, ages 16 to 6. His life reflects humility, perseverance, and a deep dedication to those who serve.

Luke enjoys gardening, farming, ranching, horseback riding, camping, and exploring advanced air mobility. His commendations include the Bronze Star and Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Post-retirement, Luke transitioned to the private sector, founding American Skyport and Business Navigators, where veterans help businesses with systems, processes, and culture. He leads the nonprofit American Heroes Equine Connection, aiding veterans and first responders with PTSD. As an Ambassador for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families and Bunker Labs, he mentors veterans in business and public service. Luke lives in Indiana with his family.
