I am blessed to have a network of family and friends that are supportive of my personal and professional goals. I am most proud of my three children, DJ, Brooklyn, and Josh. They endured the hard times of watching me leave for deployments and my absences, they were the rock I would lean on in those hard days. Life after the Marine Corps has been my opportunity to return the support they gave me, and I have enjoyed watching them grow into amazing people. The opportunity that my role at Melton has provided to build a network of friends in the veteran community, has helped me develop a new sense of purpose after the military. Peers have become great friends, and these amazing veterans push me to be better daily. I draw much of my inspiration from the experiences of working with some of the best leaders in my industry.
David Harper is the Military Program Supervisor at Melton Truck Lines. He served in the Marine Corps for 10 years as an 0311, deploying three times during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He completed a Marine Corps Recruiting tour in Sioux Falls, SD, finishing with an astounding 0% recruit training attrition. After transitioning out of the military in 2013, he began a new career in the transportation industry. David has served in roles such as Recruiter and Operations Manager and now focuses solely on connecting with veterans and transitioning service members while overseeing Melton’s nationally recognized and awarded Military Program. His favorite part of connecting with veterans is the opportunity to lead, coach, and mentor other veterans as they navigate their own journey back into the civilian sector and begin their new career in trucking.
