In addition to dedicating time to volunteer work, I enjoy cycling with my family, taking walks with our two dogs, and sharing regular family campfires three to four times a week. During my personal time, I often work in the garage, engaging in DIY projects and building practical items for around the house. Most recently, I crafted a custom cornhole board game. In the evenings, I unwind by watching action films, which help me relax and recharge.
I am a 47-year-old Navy Veteran with six years of honorable service. Since returning to Iowa, I’ve volunteered as a church camp counselor, American Legion Boys State City Counselor, and participated in community clean-ups. I’ve also coached high school cross country, track & field, varsity basketball, and organized local events. I pursued an AA at Iowa Central Community College in 2022 and transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in 2023, where I will earn a BA in All Social Sciences Teaching in 2025. As President of the UNI Veterans Association, I revitalized the organization, led recruitment, and organized events like a PTSD/Suicide Awareness Conference with 220 attendees and a PTSD walk/run with 120 participants. After the loss of a fellow Veteran, I partnered with her organization to establish a two-year Adopt-a-Highway program in her memory, reflecting my dedication to leadership and community service.
